About Us
Psychomodelling, Health, and Wellness Initiative (PHAWI) is an independent registered non-government and nonprofit civil society organization based in Eket, Akwa Ibom State.
Various programmes, ranging from skill acquisition programmes, to free and compulsory education, scholarship schemes, grants, etc., aimed at children and youth development have been implemented overtime. However, cohesive mental health training has been relegated, and very little seems to have been done to mentally prepare young people to maximize the benefits of the aforementioned empowerment programs. In light of this, PHAWI is set up to address the mental health and psychosocial needs of young people.
To support, coordinate, and promote mental wellbeing generally through psychological counseling, seminars, workshops, conferences, and media campaigns within and outside the immediate community based on the psychological principles.
The goal of PHAWI is to groom secured, matured, confident individuals who can handle pressures thrown at them by human and non-human factors in their physical, social, and psychological environments.
We devise sustainable strategies to achieve need and right-based approach to ascertain and provide solutions to social issues in our thematic areas by mobilizing all indigenous and local resources with adequate community involvement. We source for funding from donor agencies, philanthropists etc.
PHAWI is made up of a group of psychologists and other experts that make use of psychological principles to groom our future leaders, working with them to prevent being misled into unacceptable behaviour. PHAWI works hard to ensure that young people are adequately equipped with the needed grooming to seamlessly transit into responsible and highly motivated adults.
